THIS IS MY WHY

The most important photos I’ve ever taken have never won any awards. They aren’t particularly outstanding, nor are they technically perfect. I took them with an old point & shoot digital camera.

They are simple photos. The year is 2006. In one frame, my mum and grandmother are laughing together. In the other, my grandmother is surrounded by her 3 daughters. They aren’t stiff, forced smiles, but genuine, authentic, wide smiles. I remember printing these images out on an old home photo printer and giving it to my mum, who then framed them and proudly placed them on her photo cabinet.

My grandmother passed away a few months after that photo was taken. In the years that have since passed, I’ve moved halfway across the world and back, owned 4 different computers/laptops and countless external hard disk drives. I tried looking for the digital files a couple of years ago, desperately hoping to find them so I could reprint the images, realizing with despair that they are lost. Forever.

All we have left are those two framed photos. Imagine if I’d never printed the photos.

I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. This is a huge part of the reason why virtually every client who walks through my doors also walks out with beautiful printed family heirlooms, to be cherished by many generations.

Your family deserves this. Let me help you tell your family’s story.

Archival Printing

I believe in creating things that last. Not for 5, 10 years, but 50, 100 years. That is why I only do archival printing. I’m not just printing for you to enjoy within the next few years; I’m printing it so your children and their children can see these memories in their full glory.

what is archival printing? what makes it special?

“Archival" printing indicates that the product is created to last for a long time, especially with proper care and storage. The two most crucial components in creating an archival print lies in the choice of ink and paper.

All prints created by me are printed by 12-color pigment ink printers (as opposed to inkjet) on archival-grade acid-free fine art paper that have been rated to last more than 60-70 years in Malaysian weather without fading / discoloration (as long as it isn't exposed to weather elements outdoors etc). These prints are miles apart in quality from cheaper, traditional resin-coated lustre photo papers (commercially known as RC paper) that usually only manage at best 7-10 years before they begin to discolor and/or fade. I work only with specialized print labs that have the technical infrastructure and experience to produce quality artwork like this - it is definitely not your run-of-the-mill photo printing shop / website. In fact, there is barely a handful of artisans in the whole of Malaysia who possess the expertise required.

That is why despite the premium price point, archival prints are much-loved by discerning clients who understand the importance of longevity.

Photos are one of the very few things in life where the value appreciates over time. The photos you cherish today will mean even more 20 years from now. You’ve made all this effort to have these moments captured - now bring it to life by having me manage the printing of your photos.

I take care of the entire creation, printing, crafting and delivery process so that you have nothing to worry about :) What you are investing in is, besides the top quality materials, my experience, expertise, time, and your peace of mind. I will walk you through each step of the process and ensure a seamless experience from start to end. My ultimate goal is for you to own beautiful heirloom artwork that will be cherished for generations. This is an investment for the future. Do it. Do it well.
